Chapter Seventeen: One, Two, Three, Four

Hello, and welcome back to the Hadley Legacy. When we last left off, there were four toddlers. Be afraid, be very afraid.

Gwendolyn got her final promotion, and reached the top of her career. She is now a top secret agent!

I let her keep her job, because it pays well, but her attention is now on playing ranked chess matches.

She plays opponent after opponent after opponent.

And after she wins, she questions them and writes a report, because I believe if her performance meter fills up she'll get a raise, and we need the money.

Meanwhile, Chelle is repairing things and upgrading things left and right, trying to bring up her handiness because I just remembered she needs it for her job.

But it's a pause from all that for now, because it's time for Wendy and Jayla to grow up.

This is Wendy, who just grew up with the lucky trait.

This is Jayla, who just grew up with the unlucky trait.

They're actually really close, despite the way their mothers bicker. These two are cousins times two. Their mothers are sisters and their fathers are brothers.

The younger girls are getting more attention from their moms. Here Roxy teaches Gabija to talk...

...and Chelle teaches Katyrzena.

Katyrzena also learned to walk from her mother...

...while Gweny taught Gabija while her mother was at work.

Chelle, who I keep accidentally calling Gweny, earns brownie points with me by painting this adorable picture of a fairy.

Hina's been our neighbor since Gwen broke up with her, and recently we got a message that she was going to die soon. Roxy took it upon herself to go over and patch things up with her before she died. Too bad she never really forgave Gwen before she kicked the bucket.

"Well, I tried."
What's that you're wearing?
"Work uniform. Better than Chelle's drab old lab coats any day, huh?"

Uh-huh... Anyway, it's time for these two to grow up.

I added a bigger deck around the back, then gave them two chess tables and sent the girls off to work.
